Choosing to work

I have an interesting work situation, at least it's new to me. I have recently gotten a new job as a grower at an organic vineyard. The owner wants me to be in charge of it completely and they say that I can make my own hours and everything will be on the honor system. This is a far cry from my last job where I had someone breathing down my neck just about every hour of the day making sure I was working.

I find myself now wanting to go to work. I see the grape vines as my babies that need to be taken care of and with having carte blanche on anything that I do there my thinking parts have been working overtime on all the possibilities of the things that I could do. I want to set up a vermicomposting system, I want to get chickens for insect control and fertilizing, I want to plant strawberries and hops vines. The list goes on and on.

The other great thing about my job is that with all the flexibility I can double my training efforts. You see, I'm an ultrarunner. An ultrarunner runs distances longer than a standard marathon, usually on trails. In the past year I've realized that in this little niche sport I'm actually pretty good. Most of the world hasn't realized this yet, but they might soon.

Today's stats:
Miles run - 8 on roads
Work - tied up vines and pruned off water sprouts
Weather - 90 and humid
